Broom-making belongs to all of us.

Brooms are a tool and a symbol that unite us across timelines, cultures, and regions. Everyone has an ancestor who made a broom. Everyone owns one.

As a folk tradition, sweeping is about maintaining autonomy over our self and our spaces. Sweeping both softens and sharpens the edges between domesticity and the wild. It shapes the boundaries between our home and the elements.

I make brooms in devotion to the sanctity of our daily tasks and the tools used to complete them. The brooms are inspired by the seasons, natural fibers and patterns, and our spaces that need cleaning.

The brooms are made on stolen Lenape land with wood collected from reservoirs, beaches, and clear-cut zones, tampico and sorghum which has either been imported from Mexico or grown in my garden.
